Ian Sacks is a sports anchor and reporter for KELOLAND Media Group (KELO-TV) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He is also the site manager for Mid-Major Madness.
At KELOLAND, he anchors the sports segment every weekend and co-anchors SportsZone, a weekly high school football and basketball highlight show. One of his favorite experiences has been covering the South Dakota State women’s basketball team in the NCAA Tournament in Blacksburg, Va., in 2023 and in Spokane, Wa., in 2024. During each trip, he did as many as four live shots each day and several packages.

With Mid-Major Madness, Sacks oversees the day-to-day operation of the site. He works with a staff of roughly a dozen writers to cover college basketball across the nation. March is his favorite and busiest month as he coordinates the production of nearly 150 articles with the sport’s postseason.
Most recently before moving to Sioux Falls, he completed his Master’s Degree in sports journalism at Arizona State’s Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

He has a wealth of sports reporting and play-by-play experience. He served as one of the lead voices of the ESPN3/ESPN+ broadcasts for his alma-mater Iona College as well as for Larchmont-Mamaroneck Community Media (LMC Media).
At Iona, Ian announced men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, softball, men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse on ESPN3/ESPN+. One of his favorite experiences was the opportunity to announce Iona’s MAAC championship victories in men’s and women’s basketball.
Ian also has served in numerous roles in professional sports. He was the media relations and broadcasting assistant with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (the New York Mets’ Double-A affiliate) during the 2019 season. In this role, he announced the team’s games for local radio and MiLB.tv. He also helped with all media coverage by compiling game notes, writing game recaps and sending out press releases and roster transactions.

As a senior in college, Ian served as the New York Jets beat reporter for ESPN Radio Albany (104.5 The Team). He covered every home game, compiled recap videos and articles and provided insight into the state of the team on the radio.
Ian has also worked as a production assistant with the New York Liberty and the Westchester Knicks (the New York Knicks’ G League affiliate) as well as a runner and a score bug operator for the YES Network.
In 2014, he began announcing Mamaroneck and Rye Neck basketball, baseball, softball, football, volleyball and lacrosse games for LMC Media.
Previously, Ian served as a news producer at Fox61 in Hartford, CT, and Fios1 News in Rye Brook, NY. At both stations, he produced multiple hours of news each day.
An avid sports fan, movie watcher and reader, he resides in Sioux Falls and visits home in New York often.
