[EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.] – The New York Jets moved to 6-5 on the season with a 38-20 win over the Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium Nov. 29. Here are the five major takeaways from the game:
1. Red zone efficiency is key.
The Jets scored touchdowns on four of their five trips to the red zone.
2. Look to Brandon Marshall on offense.
The Pro Bowl wide receiver reeled in nine catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns. This game marks the sixth time this season he has eclipsed the century mark.
“When I throw the ball to him, I know he’s going to come down with it,” quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said.
The Jets limited the Dolphins to just 12 yards on the ground.
4. Get stops on third down.
In their second matchup of the season, the Dolphins did not get their first third-down conversion against the Jets until the second half of this game. The Dolphins were 4-for-15 on third downs in this contest.
5. Devin Smith is going to be a player to watch.
The rookie caught two passes for 33 yards and one touchdown.
“His emergence is only going to help us,” Fitzpatrick said.
